Painted Stairways...to Heaven?

Lately I've been seeing so many photos of painted, stenciled, and typography filled staircases. I think this is such a fantastic opportunity to add personality and style to such an overlooked part of the home. What are your thoughts? Is this something you would consider for your own home? Which look is your favorite?!? :)

I adore this one!

How fun to write the words to your favorite song down your stairs? You best make sure you truly love the song, it'd always be stuck in your head!! hehe! :)

(Ok, maybe I'm cheating on this one! I think it's carpet. But it could be painted!)

And how can this one not make you smile?

Here is a more subtle way to brighten up your staircase without being too overwhelming.

Some random numbers and favorite welcoming words lend an eclectic feel.

Simply numbering the stairs going up is a great way to keep things classic but still different than normal.

Even a great wallpaper print can be used to freshen up your staircase.

I can't even pick a favorite, I love them all! If I had a staircase I would just change them out all the time! I mean, it's just paint, right?! :)

Union Jack Lovin'

Ok, maybe it's due to all the commotion going on about some wedding about to commence, eh-hem I think they're calling it the Royal wedding, but I've been totally obsessed with the Union Jack symbol! Ok, I'm pretty much always in love with it, just thought this was a good excuse to have to write a post on it! :)

I totally A-D-O-R-E how this room has been styled! All the white is such a fantastic way to really allow all the bright colors really pop, but I also love how they kept all the white furniture very detailed to keep some added visual interest! And the design detail of the rug adds such feminine detail, without being too overwhelming. And of course, there's a little bit of "Jack" thrown in there! I even love the solid red canvas, and how super easy that would be to make yourself!

Bright White Spaces

Some of these spaces contain great pops of color while others are very simple and neutral, however, there's no denying they are all beautiful spaces!

I love the bright punches of purple in this space! And the great lightning!

I love the look of a white glass front door! Such an inviting foyer! If only I could see the rest of this home!

What a super feminine, French inspired flat!

So simple, and shiny but very glamazzon!

Ahhh! Do you think the owner of this bathroom would be upset if they found me hanging out in this beautiful tub?!?!

LOVE this sofa!

I love the great pops of color the fresh potted plants bring to this white kitchen! And super easy to cook with fresh herbs when they're right in front of you!

On a side note, Happiest of birthdays to my li'l bro Gabriel!!!! 21 Baby!!! :)

Paris Dreamin'

I know my last post was also an outfit, but what can I say, I just love fashion! I believe this dress came from my dreams! (Or maybe from Sarah Jessica Parker's closet!)

If only I could wear THIS when we're in Paris this summer...*sigh*

DIY Paper Chandelier

I'm TRYING my hardest to think of where in my tiny four room apartment this could go!!!! I want to make one ASAP!!!

These pictures pretty much explain how easy this chandelier was for graphic designer Gabrielle Guy to make. Simply glue strips of scrap paper onto a paper lantern, allow glue to dry, then light and enjoy!!!

Now, where to put this, hmmm....

Photo Gallery Inspiration

Here are some great, unique ways to display photos, making them a beautiful art installation in your home.

I love the white frames here, especially with the French Victorian feel! I'm hoping to find one of these at a flea market this summer when we're in France!

A great way to keep this look a bit more modern, clean, or 'planned' is to use a recurring theme throughout. Either keeping all the photos and /or frames monocramatic (black, or white, or both; silver, or gold, whatever you choose!) And/or by also keeping the display in a more straight line, box style shape, rather than an eclectic, scattered feel.

White frames, large mats, love...

I LOVE lining a staircase full of personal, meaningful photos! What a great way to reminisce on great memories every time you're heading up the stairs!

I love how the larger size of these photos turn your average family snapshots into works of art. I also think printing your photos on stretched canvas is another fabulous way to create a more creative feel.

Even if you don't have the funds for all the frames you can still create a super stylish and personal look by grouping lots of photos together. Having all the photos printed in black and white helps to make this wallet friendly option feel much more expensive and very put together!

What do you think? What's your favorite way to display your most beloved photos?

Herb Garden for Spring!!!

I had a post a couple weeks ago about different ideas for herb gardens for your kitchen. Here is a super cute and "green" way of creating one.

These used tea cans make darling pots for planting (and give you an excuse to drink lots of tea!)

Curtain Room Dividers

I love the concept of using curtains to help divide up a large living space without doing anything permanent. This way you have the option of a very open loft feel or the option to close things off a make things a bit more separated, depending on your mood!
