Vivienne is 8 months old!

Viv turned eight months a bit over a week ago, however, I'm shockingly terrible about recording her monthly info and keeping track of all the sweet things she does. I can't imagine ever forgetting but know its bound to happen over time.
I thought if I check in monthly here, it will help keep me accountable.

Stats:
I'm not sure her weight, as she doesn't go to the Dr till next month, but at 7 1/2 months she was 16 3/4lbs.

Teeth:
Still just her darling two bottom teeth that show when she smiles.

Activity:
She's not crawling yet but has perfected the art of planking! She'll have her swim suit body soon if she keeps it up! Even tho she isn't crawling, she still manages to get all over the place! I am already finding I turn my head away for a second and she's hitting buttons on the DVD player or stuck under the couch with just her head peeking out. Rolling everywhere, scooting, streeeetching and grunting to barely get to the toy she really wants to play with. It's the cutest thing to watch her try with all her might to get to that desired toy..and even just to know she has a specific desired toy is so cute.
She also is the best at self entertaining. she loves to sit and play with her toys for hours on end.

Cute sayings:
she has yet to say 'real' words but is trying with all her might. She'll babble baby talk getting so so close to saying mama and dadda that every time by breathe catches in my chest as I ask myself, 'was that it??!' It's seriously so close that I have to wonder if she's really already said it and I've somehow missed it. She'll hold our mouths while we talk, inspecting what's happening, trying with furrowed brow to figure out how she can mimic what we're doing with our mouths.

Favorite foods:
my Viv has loved eating her homemade baby food so much! She'll eat an entire bowl (about 6.5 oz) of food as well as nurse before about three times a day. Some of her favie foods lately are butternut squash with turkey, zucchini and pears (she had that over thanksgiving); pumpkin mixed with yogurt and a tiny dash of cinnamon (her new favorite brekky). Her other feedings are just nursing. I love that time. If I were an actress and had to cry for a role, I would simply think about when I have to stop breastfeeding. I love that time with her..I love that she needs me..I love how she holds my face when she nurses and plays with my hair..ok, change of subject before I start tearing up.
Last weekend she enjoyed her first baby cookie! It was the stickiest, gummiest, bestest thing ever! She made a mess feeding herself, getting it all in her hair, stuck all over her clothes, and pretty much everywhere in the two foot vicinity..it was the best thing ever! And of course warranted a much needed bath!

Some of my favorite things from this month:

My darling Vivienne,

I love how you love to bounce up and down when you're happy. You'll be sitting playing with your toys and just bouncing away. I adore how you will cock your head to the side all coy and smile so big when you see us or we talk to you or you just want to play. It's like you're saying, 'hi mom!' When your face lights up and you thump your feet on your bed in the morning when I come in to get you it melts my heart. I love how you find your sister Roxy so amusing. you think she is just too funny. you giggle like crazy when you watch her play with her toys. I love your busyness. You are always wiggling, just like the whole time when I was pregnant. One of my favorite things you've just started to do is when you get tired at night you get slap happy. You love to play with me and grab my face in your hands and fake eat my nose...and you think its just so hilarious, you can't stop laughing! As for now, this is something you only do with me and I love that its our special thing. I don't even care that I'm covered in slobber when we're done playing...
You are a pure delight to me and daddy. Your joyful happy spirit motivates me to have the same. your smile already lights up the entire room (or bus or train, wherever we are people just love how happy you are) You bring joy to so many people's day that you don't even know with that smile.
I love you more than I imagined possible. I can't wait to watch you continue to grow and develop...

36 Weeks!

Wow! Has it really been that long since I last posted?! Time has flown by and life has been pretty busy around here lately.

Let's see....well, there was Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's in Times Square, our trip to KC for some wonderful baby showers and much needed time spent with family and friends, then on a mad search for a 2 bedroom apartment! We found one , got all the crazy information they require in NYC to apply for a lease and got it! We worked on painting our new bedroom last week and will move in this Tuesday and Wednesday. Now that we have our place I can focus on ordering and assembling our crib, getting all the last minute things put together for her nursery! And it might be a good idea to get a bag packed for the hospital considering I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks for the last few weeks! I told you life has been a bit crazy lately! Oh, and I forgot to mention I was fighting bronchitis for about two weeks in there too, always fun. :)

Besides the bronchitis I've been very very blessed to have such an easy pregnancy! I've not been nauseous at all, had plenty of energy, been able to work just like normal, and have had no problems with all the standing and walking that living in this city requires.

Our little girly is most definitely a mover and a shaker! She never stops wiggling all around. She especially loves when her Daddy gets home from work and she hears his voice. She goes nuts! And she always loves to feel him "hold" her. It's pretty overwhelming how much we both already love her so much and we haven't even gotten to meet her yet! Kyle is so excited to meet her, he keeps saying he wants her to just come now. I find that so so sweet, but I WOULD like to get a few more things checked off our To Do list before she makes her arrival. :)

Here's a few pictures of the belly!

These first two are from Thanksgiving:

This is from the first week of January:

These are from today, in week 36!

The countdown is officially on!

Wonderful Words

I just told Kyle yesterday that our daughter will have the best example of what kind of man to marry because she will get to watch her Daddy be so amazing to her Mommy for her entire life...

What a Week!!!

This has been one eventful week! We had our 20 week sonogram and found out the sex of the baby!!!!! And to top off all the excitement, I felt the baby fluttering around for the first time this morning!!!!!

Soooooo....... We're having a GIRL!!!!!

Kyle's dad and stepmom happened to plan a visit over this weekend and it worked out perfectly that it was the same day we were having our sonogram. We went Monday to the hospital and got to watch our Little Miss for a good thirty minutes while the technician got all the little measurements of our perfect little one! Everything looks great and she (I'm still getting used to saying that instead of it!) is developing right on track! She's right at 10 ounces and about 6 1/2 inches long from head to booty! We got lots of great pics of her, however, she was being a bit stubborn and wouldn't let the tech get the right angles to measure her heart, so we get to go back next week and do another sonogram! :)

We wanted to find a more fun way to find out if we were having a girl or a boy, so we decided to have the tech right down what we were having and seal it in an envelope.
We then took it down to Babycakes, my favorite bakery which happens to also have the perfect name for this particular occasion, in a super fun silver BMW Kyle rented for a few hours to surprise me. He wanted to make every aspect of the day special and I thought it was so sweet, and a ton of fun to cruise around NYC in a fun car! We had the girl at the shop open the envelope and ice some cupcakes pink or blue, whichever fit the bill, and wrap them up so we wouldn't be tempted to peek! The girl at the shop was so excited to get to do this for us! It was pretty sweet how into it she got!

So cute how the girl at the shop wrote this on the cupcake box :)

We then cruised back home and set up the computer to Skype my parents in. I wanted to share the special moment with them too. (Thank God for technology!) Once we got it all set up, we counted to three and opened the lid, to find PINK cupcakes!!!!!! AHHH! A little girl!!!! We were both a bit shocked as EVERYONE thought we were having a boy! But oh so excited! It definitely makes it seem much more real for some reason, now that we know that we have a Little Miss on the way. And now to start planning the nursery and getting to register and SHOP!!!! :)

(Getting the computer all set up)

Now it's back on the name hunt. We had several names picked for a boy but only had one that we are liking for a girl. However, we aren't 100% about it... Hmmm, looks like we might be spending some time in Barnes and Noble's cafe, thumbing through some books!

It's so crazy to think we are halfway through our pregnancy now! Only 20 weeks to go and we will get to meet her!!!

Here's her precious little profile. Look at that little button nose!

Here's a full side body shot. Her little legs curled up are oh so cute!

And a little tiny foot! Ps: We counted, she has ten fingers and ten toes!

Thanks to Pops and Grandma Susan, she has a super cute little hippie outfit, already a trendy little gal :)

Then, this morning as I was laying on my tummy (for probably one of the last few times that I should) I could feel her wiggling all around! It was the first time I've felt her, and even though it wasn't an actual "kick" I could feel, it was definitely her! I think she was trying to tell me good morning. :)

Belly Updates!

Ok, I realize it is fairly pathetic that my design blog has somehow seemed to morph into a pregnancy/baby blog, but what can I say, not much has been inspiring me lately on the design front due to the mental distractions I have going on as of late! So for all you design junkies, I sincerely apologize!

With that being said, I have a few new pictures to share! As I uploaded these a few minutes ago, I saw my belly pictures from the day after we found out, it's already a wee bit depressing how skinny I seemed compared to now! I will only continue to grow, but hopefully will be back to that thin tight belly soon after!

I feel like the difference between this week and last week is the most growth/change in one week so far! Kyle is so cute and every day can't get over how much the baby is growing, rubbing my belly and talking to our little one telling it how much he already loves it. It's amazing to me that already our little rascal can hear voices and even see some light change if I'm somewhere really bright! Speaking of 'it', we have 21 days left until we find out the babies sex!!!! I will post what we will be having as soon as we find out!

The ones in my trusty green workout tank are from today, 16 weeks and 3 days.

Had to sneak a little Roxy pic in there, snuggling with her Daddy. She is our first born, ya know!

And these are from last week, right at 15 weeks. I think the muffin in the background definitely attributed to the belly growth between 15 and 16 weeks! :)

Thankfully all my clothes are still fitting just fine, so even though the belly is starting to grow, especially in this last week, I haven't had to go buy anything yet. I'm hoping to get away with just a few pairs of maternity jeans, and not anything else maternity. I'd much rather sport some cute loose flowy sweaters and ponchos that are so in this season so I can wear them next winter too.

Baby Progress

Today we went to the hospital for our 12 week (although by the time we made the appointment I was really 13 weeks) nuchal translucency test, aka downs syndrome test. I was a little nervous, I'm not going to lie. I've been praying since we found out we were expecting for a healthy baby. I'm happy to report the test went great and we got to see the little one for a long time! Our little baby is already a stubborn one! (Hm, where did it get that?) It refused to move around so the technician could get the correct measurements she needed. I rolled all around, coughed, we pressed on my belly but nothing could make the little one budge! It was just too comfy I guess :)

(Some of the pictures she took were 4D which was so cool to see!)

The only thing the little one kept doing was covering it's eyes with it's hands! It was sooo cute! It didn't like all the pushing and prodding we were doing! Hehe :)

(This is my favorite of all the pictures we got today! SO cute)

Belly Updates

Ok, so there really isn't too much to show yet being as I've only gained a whopping two pounds, but I've had some people asking how much my belly has grown, so I thought I'd post a few snapshots!

I randomly ended up having the same shirt on today as I did when I took my first pictures, so maybe I should wear it in all of my belly shots from here on out! Although it really is not the cutest, it is my favorite workout top though :)

So this is on my birthday, July 1. The day after we found out we were expecting. (I was about 5 weeks along)

And this is today, at 12 weeks! (Ok, I just realized it sort of looks like Roxy has her head in my butt! Obviously she does not!)

How about you? If you have had a baby or are pregnant, when did you feel like you really started to show?

A New Addition...

No, I'm not talking about a new piece of furniture or artwork, and not even talking about a new puppy, this addition has legs, but just not four of them.....

That's right... We're having a BABY!!!!!!

We couldn't be more excited!!!

I'm 11 weeks and this has been the hardest secret to keep! (Honestly, I haven't been that great at keeping it, pretty much everyone else knows except you! But don't worry, you've joined the club now)
I have thankfully been feeling really great, not sick at all, just super tired ALL THE TIME! Which explains my serious lack of posting on the blog as of late. (Sorry)
We have had so much fun already watching the little rascal get bigger and bigger every time we go to the doctor. Two weeks ago it was just this little blob:

and now you can actually see it's little arms and legs and fingers and toes! I just can't get over how much it has grown and developed in two short weeks! It makes me so excited for our next visit in a month, I know we'll be blown away!
'It' was moving all around and wiggling all over the place! Kyle said his mom always told him he was the most active baby when she was pregnant so we might be in for a baby just like Daddy! Thankfully NYC has lots of great parks to run around in!! :)

So here we go! Our little family of three is rapidly becoming a family of four! (That's right, Roxy IS included in the head count! She is our firstborn after all!)

Nursery Inspiration

Although I'm still no where near being ready to join the Motherhood club (I always have to preface these types of posts with this warning!) The designer in me can't help but think of what I'll do for someday nurseries! I definitely gravitate towards keeping the nursery from looking too "baby-like", i.e. pastels, 'baby' colors, baby signage, etc...
For a boy's room, I love keeping things simple and fairly grown up feeling. I love the yellow and white stripes in this nursery from Jenna Lyon of J. Crew. I adore the strong, dark masculine furniture as well. And I love how the white crib helps to keep the balance in the room.

And how light, fresh, and open is this adorable baby room?! Even though the color palette is much lighter, it still doesn't feel like the typical baby boy room, which I love that about this room! Again, so simple, basic, but very calm and welcoming little nursery. I'm loving the rug, and again the stripes add a great amount of depth and detail to this simple room.

What about you? What is your dream nursery style? And if you have kids, what'd you do for their nurseries?

Baby Talk...J/K

So, even though I'm still no where near wanting to be a mother yet, I still love looking at all the cute ideas for nurseries and "decorating" your baby! (Kyle, don't freak out, I'm just looking!) Here is a cute way to keep photographic records of what your baby looks like month to month, by dressing them in onesies outfitted in the month they are old.

What really caught my eye about this photo is the SO darling wallpaper behind the darling little girl! Definitely something I'd want in my someday baby girl's nursery!

SO precious all these little 'pups' and such creative ideas for photos!
