{Don't Eat Your Vegetables}

probably not a phrase you really ever heard as a child..
no, no..
instead of eating your veggies, how's about decorating with them, hmm?

we've all seen the way designers and (us regular peeps) use fresh fruits and veggies to help bring a pop of color and life into a space, particularly kitchens. but that's not what i'm talking about today.

here lately i've been noticing how all these buildings throughout the city are using cabbage in their flower beds for a hearty winter decor.
 i must say, i'm loving it! it's so lovely to catch any bit of color and life when walking around in the frigid cold. warms me up a bit.
it's colorful, simply gorgeous, and helps motivate us to make sure we're eating our greens! (just not these actual greens, dogs pee on them ya know...eeeeww....)

{simply stunning}

{this one is breathtaking}

{little bits here and there}

so simple and pretty, no?

would you ever use veggies as a design element in your landscaping?

colorful art

i would never stop drawing...

I would never stop being artistic.
{source}
although my compulsive need to have things put back in their place might drive me to insanity with this, it would be well worth it.

this is a great example of using what you have to create a beautiful work of art, while using it to make a work of art...vicious cycle in the best way possible... ;)

Taken Over To the Dark Side

Even though we won't be moving now until the end of February, I can't stop thinking about how I'll go about decorating a new space! I have been dreaming of painting walls dark, like really dark, maybe even black! Obviously this will depend on what the new space looks like, hopefully it'll be nice and bright and have lots of sun exposure, so my dreams can be reality! I'm thinking our bedroom walls, or maybe even just the wall our bed is on, or an office area, oh or maybe even the baby room! I could let myself get VERY carried away with this!
I just feel that a dark wall is clearly a very bold choice, but also can be oh so chic and sophisticated when executed properly. I like the thought of a dark dark wall with furniture that is unfinished, rough and a tad rugged. Maybe an old worn dresser or vintage bed frame, ideally with a little French inspiration to it...ah! I'm getting so excited!

Here are a few photos of inspiration, although honestly none of these are QUITE what I'm thinking in my head...

I love the dark walls with the cognac colored leather sofa, gorgeous!

I love the depth and lightness adding yards of light fabric brings to this space

I definitely think in order to pull this look off you need to keep the rest of the space light and bright with light colored fabrics and decor in order to prevent closing up the space visually.

What are your thoughts on the concept? Do you like stepping outside if the "beige box" or is black, charcoal, or navy a bit too out there for you?

Dining Bliss

To me there's something so calming and inviting about a bright dining space. I love how color pops so much off light walls/cabinets. It allows great pieces like these amazing Philip Stark chairs to truly become pieces of art for your bum to sit in!
With the addition of the display of wall art as well as the rich saturated color of the drapes, the fabulous lighting fixture, and the soft blue color on the backsplash of the kitchen and bookshelf, this little space is totally calling my name!

Bright Britches

I've ALWAYS looovveedddd color! Just ask my parents! Even as a little girl I always adored all sorts of different colors and could never chose a favorite because there were just too many in the running to pick out one or two top favies. And I've always found it fun to wear bright colors whenever possible.
I recently bought a pair of bright yellow shorts at Forever21 similar to these:

I really wasn't too sure what I would pair them with, but I was just in the mood for something bright, and fun! I thought they could bring some unexpected flair to my Summer wardrobe. What are your thoughts on bright candy colored clothes this summer? Will you sport anything a bit out of the box this year?

Potent Pops of Pink!

I've never been a pink girl, even as a child. I have always preferred pretty much any other color. However, over the last few months this color, this super saturated, potent pink, has been tickling my fancy! I love it against a white backdrop, which really allows it to stand out!

Hope this brings some brightness to your day!

Stencils... for your floors?

Lately I've really been admiring the look of stenciled floors. The possibilities would be virtually endless, being as you can create your own design in whatever color you want!!! It'd be a much more affordable alternative to tiles too, I'd imagine. What are your thoughts? Love it? Hate it?

I definitely think keeping the tones a bit muted is a great way to ease into this look, or you could go all out like the last photo!

How awesome this would be in a sunroom!

What color, pattern, or style would you pick if you did this in a room for your own house?

I've Got the Blues...

I have recently been falling in love with the concept of colored doors! There's a brownstone I walk by every night on my way home that has a bright apple green door and it always makes me smile! They seem very San Francisco and/or European, and I LOVE that!

These spunky blue doors are what I'm loving today!

What do you think? If you were to paint your exterior door, what color would you pick?!
