{Paris On The Brain}

the last few days i've had our time spent in paris on my mind.
it's such a magical city.
i only dream of returning someday.
until then, these spaces will do the trick.

Gorgeous bedroom!

{Don't Eat Your Vegetables}

probably not a phrase you really ever heard as a child..
no, no..
instead of eating your veggies, how's about decorating with them, hmm?

we've all seen the way designers and (us regular peeps) use fresh fruits and veggies to help bring a pop of color and life into a space, particularly kitchens. but that's not what i'm talking about today.

here lately i've been noticing how all these buildings throughout the city are using cabbage in their flower beds for a hearty winter decor.
 i must say, i'm loving it! it's so lovely to catch any bit of color and life when walking around in the frigid cold. warms me up a bit.
it's colorful, simply gorgeous, and helps motivate us to make sure we're eating our greens! (just not these actual greens, dogs pee on them ya know...eeeeww....)

{simply stunning}

{this one is breathtaking}

{little bits here and there}

so simple and pretty, no?

would you ever use veggies as a design element in your landscaping?

{Holiday Tablescape Decor}

here's a few inspirational photos for a beautifully scaped christmas table this season:

beautifully festive and traditional red and green,
this look is texturally balanced by blending the silver and glass with the natural elements, such as the faux wooden candle, the greenery, poinsettias, and holly berries..

this table oozes elegance, but all the glow from the candlelight helps keep it warm and inviting, not too stuffy. the trick here is to mix your candle sizes: blending columns, votives, and tapers to have all different heights. layering your decor over a mirrored "table runner" creates added glamour and reflects even more candlelight, making instant ambience. an added bonus: everyone looks good in candlelight!
adding in some bouquets of flowers soften this look even more by adding a much needed natural element.

a light neutral color palette, pine cones, a few sprigs of garland clippings,
some tealights in antique jars, and a few linen table runners
 create a table that begs for hours of chatting with
 a big mug of hot cocoa after christmas dinner

if you're brave enough to host your christmas dinner outside this year,
what a beautiful way to do it! rustic, elegant, inviting, add a firepit for warmth and i'd be at this get-together in a heartbeat.

what theme will you do for your christmas table this year?

party plannin'

{via oh happy day}
even though viv's birthday is not for 5 more months
(and by no means does this mama wish her baby to be a year old already)
(is it normal that i already feel she's growing too fast?)
(if only there was a freeze button on life, why hasn't this been invented yet?)
anywho...although i don't want to wish her birthday to be here yet, i can't help but ponder what we will do for her party! like...what decorations we will do, if the weather is nice we could even have it at the park, color theme, hmmm... the wheels in my head are a turnin'!

when i came across this tutorial over at oh happy day i immediately thought this would be so cute to have as part of the decor! if the weather cooperates, i'd even love to hang them in some trees at the park and have her party there...

{via oh happy day}
Materials Needed: Folds of Crepe Paper (buy the good stuff here or the cheap stuff here) , Scissors, Tape
Step 1:  Cut the roll of crepe paper in half (you may need a box cutter for this)
Step 2: Take the roll of crepe paper and with another person’s help, have each person stand at an end and pull until most of the stretch from the paper has been removed. (To speed up the process you can do these two at a time.)
Step 2: Fold the paper together.
Step 3:  Begin cutting fringe halfway through the fold, leaving some space in the middle.
Step 4: Turn the fold over and finish cutting the opposite side of fringe. Be sure to not cut all the way through.
Step 5: Attach one side to the ceiling and let the other side fall to the ground. Twist the bottom to create twists in the crepe paper. And you are done!

{via oh happy day}

isn't this just the cutest? it'd even be sweet in a baby girl nursery, hanging above the crib or dresser...hmm, i just might have to try this!

what about you? what were your favorite birthday party themes/decor? as an adult or kid...

A Modern Christmas

I love the idea of decorating in a modern way this Christmas.

What a beautifully simple and elegant way to decorate the dining room for Christmas

Living in a small space sometimes, well, most times, makes for some creative thinking when it comes to decorating, especially for Christmas! Being as we don't have a fireplace, this year I put our stockings up in a more "modern" way! And they're still visible from the window so Santa will no where to come in ;)
