Office Inspiration

Living in small quarters makes me appreciate any creative use of a small space. Adding some wallpaper to the back of this closet and mounting a board to make a desk helps to instantly create an office. Clutter is one of my biggest pet peeves in my home. I like everything to be neat and orderly. Even as a kid, I've always liked to keep things picked up and put away! Having a place for everything is a great way to keep small offices clutter free. And then when you don't feel like putting everything away and keeping it all picked up, you can simply close the curtain, and voila! the mess is gone!!! :)

Decoration Inspiration

I came across this photo and just fell in love! While the actual style is not quite my taste, I love the concepts represented here.

I adore the layout of the picture frames, and I love the lights above the frames, love having a basket under the console table, and the firewood adds such a cozy homey feel, such a greatly inspirational pic!

Words of Inspiration

Funny how God works, this is exactly what I needed to hear at exactly when I needed to hear it!

Didn't think God works through pinterest, but I guess that just shows that he is in EVERYTHING!

Taken Over To the Dark Side

I'm normally more of a white kitchen kind of gal, but these pictures may have taken me over to the dark side!

This one took my breath away!

This one makes me think of a modern Hawaii style kitchen with that style of wood.

What originally got my mind thinking this way was this weekend, I went to do hair for a new client at her apartment, and I actually gasp aloud (before realizing it!) at how much I L-O-V-E-D her apartment! Someday I will ask her if I can take some photos to share with you! But her kitchen made me have a mental love affair on my white kitchen dreams! She had these amazing tall charcoal gray lacquered cabinets with a light white and gray specked marble counter top, an awesome vintage chandelier and great little pops of red in her countertop appliances!!! I was in design heaven! (I did explain
that my gasp was due to loving her apartment, I didn't want to scare my new client!)
The thing that really made her dark cabinets work well, was that they were balanced out visually with the light colored counters and her apartment had all white walls, as well as tons of sunlight pouring in!

This realization has made me feel the need to reconsider how badly I've always wanted a white kitchen! That must mean that I will just have to move several times in my life to achieve all my design desires!! Hmmm, so much to ponder today! ;)

Making Art out of your TV

We all have them... the TV that seems to end up taking over the whole living room. Well, if you're gonna have one, you might as well do your best to turn it some art or something, right?

These pictures are great examples of ways to blend that big ol' TV into the rest of your space.

Framing your TV is a great way to make it seem more like a piece of art, rather than a black box!

Here is a great way to help disguise the TV also, by surrounding it with all sorts of pieces of art, creating a more eclectic feel.

Do you have any great ways to take the attention away from the TV and keep it on your fabulously styled apartment?

On A More Serious Note...

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."-Edmund Burke

Did any of you ever see that movie a few years back with Liam Neeson called Taken? I'm not sure how you could watch that movie and not have it stir up all kinds of emotions in you to try and fight the horrible crime of human trafficking! (If you haven't seen the movie, I definitely would recommend watching it.)I know generally my blog and the contents of it's posts are very light-hearted, fun, filled with design and fashion and all things girly! Well, today I'm going to take things in a different direction.
God has placed a burden on my heart for the victims of human trafficking since before my husband I and were wed (nearly five years ago), however, I never knew of any outlet within my reach to help with this issue. About six weeks ago Mr. Williams and I were able to start attending Hillsong NYC church. There we learned of the A21 campaign, a non profit organization centered around fighting the crimes of human trafficking as well as rescuing and bringing hope to the victims of this horrible crime.

Here is a little info I pulled from their website:

"Human Trafficking is an organized criminal industry that affects every nation. Whilst the statistics can seem overwhelming, it is important to remember that every number represents the life of a victim. The A21 Campaign has recognized a significant need in the region of Europe, and is committed to combating this injustice through rescuing one life at a time.

LIFE FOR A SEX TRAFFICKING VICTIM:

After a trafficking journey that typically involves deception, rape, beatings, and constant threats, victims are often forced to live in confining and unsanitary conditions. Once formally put to work, human trafficking victims can be forced to service from 40 to 110 customers in one day. Malnutrition, sleep deprivation, as well as emotional and physical abuse become day-to-day normalities. In addition, forced abortions and the contraction of STI's, Hepatitis B & C, and AIDS are ever looming probabilities. Life for a victim of sex trafficking is hell on earth. This injustice is the reason The A21 Campaign exists.

* Human trafficking is the second largest global organized crime today, generating approximately US 31.6 billion each year. Specifically, trafficking for sexual exploitation generates US 27.8 billion per year.
* There are 1.39 million victims of commercial sexual servitude worldwide.
* Over 25 percent of sex trafficked victims are trafficked from Southern and Eastern Europe.
* 90% of victims trafficked into EU member states end up in the sex industry.
* Tragically, only 1-2 percent of victims are rescued, and only 1 in 100,000 Europeans involved in trafficking are convicted." (www.thea21campaign.org)

There are currently 27 million victims of human trafficking in our world!

Starting April 21, A21 started the BECAUSE campaign, giving everyone an opportunity to spread the word about WHY we are against human trafficking, and the chance to do something about it. Although I missed out on the launch of this month long campaign, I figure better late than never! There are many ways to fight the injustice of human trafficking. And when we join together in this fight, we greatly increase the results of our efforts. I ask that you would join me this month in praying for the victims of this horrible crime. Pick a country involved in this crime that speaks to your heart, and simply PRAY! Below I've added a link to the A21 site that has a Prayer Guide located at the bottom of the webpage you can download and use as a recommendation as for what to pray:

http://www.thea21campaign.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=320&Itemid=315&lang=en
(Ok, the actual link isn't working, so please just copy/paste it)

Raising awareness for this inconceivable crime has become my mission. I plead you to take a moment to check out the A21 website and please learn more about this issue. There you will find much more information on this issue.

The A21 Campaign stands for abolishing injustice in the 21st century. Anyone can join - everyone can make a difference. Just remember, you can be the difference you wish to see in the world. So please join with me, for I truly believe God hears the prayers of his people.

Floor Inspiration

You may know her as Buddy Garrity’s wife on the hit show, Friday Night Lights, but Merrilee (McCommas) McGehee is famous to me for her AMAZEballs design and execution on this amazing floor!!

Simply using some tape, a few layers of paint, and a lot of time and patience you can create such an amazing feel in a room for such little cash!

Dining Bliss

To me there's something so calming and inviting about a bright dining space. I love how color pops so much off light walls/cabinets. It allows great pieces like these amazing Philip Stark chairs to truly become pieces of art for your bum to sit in!
With the addition of the display of wall art as well as the rich saturated color of the drapes, the fabulous lighting fixture, and the soft blue color on the backsplash of the kitchen and bookshelf, this little space is totally calling my name!

Kid's Room Inspiration

If I ever have a little girl, this will be her room! How cute! I'd feel so inspired to run and play and be all kinds of creative in this adorable little room! Can you imagine all the fun tea parties to be had in this room?!

They've done a great job at keeping this small space very open to allow lots of room for playing and being a kid!

Bright Britches

I've ALWAYS looovveedddd color! Just ask my parents! Even as a little girl I always adored all sorts of different colors and could never chose a favorite because there were just too many in the running to pick out one or two top favies. And I've always found it fun to wear bright colors whenever possible.
I recently bought a pair of bright yellow shorts at Forever21 similar to these:

I really wasn't too sure what I would pair them with, but I was just in the mood for something bright, and fun! I thought they could bring some unexpected flair to my Summer wardrobe. What are your thoughts on bright candy colored clothes this summer? Will you sport anything a bit out of the box this year?

Closeted Bliss

This room can't even be called a closet, it's much too fabulous and nearly insane to be called something as simple and everyday as a closet! It's a dressing room, a wardrobe, or maybe just my heaven!

I adore the amazing pink Union Jack rug, the gorgeous large dressing mirror, and that red vanity is amazing! I'm not even a big fan of red, but I'm loving it here!

Cocoa and Hearts

As I've mentioned before, I ADORE Jen over at Madebygirl.blogspot.com. She has been such an inspiration to me in my love of all things design! She recently launched her very own line of fabulous one-of-a-kind paintings that are now on my favie list of artwork!

Here are some of my favorites!

Her new line is called Cocoa and Hearts. Even though so many of her items have already sold, you have to go check out her drool worthy paintings! You'll go gaga for it as fast as I did, I can promise you that!

Dear Mom,

Mom,

You've always been there for me through every step of life. I love you more than I could ever find ways to show you. You have always been my supporter, whether it was when I was nervous and scared to start my new ballet class, when you'd proudly display my works of art, or especially when you agreed to "donate your head of hair to research" when I was a hair school student, you've always sacrificed yourself for your children beyond the call of duty!

You will never really know what an amazing example you have set for me of how to be a great wife, mother, and servant of Jesus. For that I am so thankful. I am truly grateful for the friendship we've developed in my adult life. You have blessed my life more than you will ever know.

Love you forever and always your baby I'll be...

This is such a great way to showcase all your favorite bags from all your favorite stores in a classic, tasteful way.

Maybe this weekend you will just have to contribute to that bag collection, hu? It's all for "fashion's sake"! :)

Potent Pops of Pink!

I've never been a pink girl, even as a child. I have always preferred pretty much any other color. However, over the last few months this color, this super saturated, potent pink, has been tickling my fancy! I love it against a white backdrop, which really allows it to stand out!

Hope this brings some brightness to your day!

Denim on Denim

Source: ktunnel.com via Lisa on Pinterest

I love the denim on denim look that has been popping up all over the place this Spring! This fashionista got it right by keeping the two tones of denim different. This way your denim on denim doesn't get too matchy on matchy! (Sorry, I couldn't resist!) :)

What are your thoughts? Will you be sporting this look this season?

On a side note, can I just say that this girl makes me miss my blonde hair! :(

Inventive Closet Storage

This is such a great way to add some extra "closet" space by using clear shelving to make almost a piece of art or furniture, adding both visual interest as well as more storage! You can even showcase some of your most beloved pieces of jewelry and shoes!

I love this!
