{Meet The Brit}

i had the pleasure of creating a HUGE piece of art as a surprise for my
bestie in kc from her hubs as her housewarming gift.

how sweet is that of him to do?!

i must say it turned out to be my favorite piece yet.
mr. w and i both were sorta sad to see it go.
but i truly couldn't think of a better home for it to be in.

it's always so thrilling to see a piece i've created hanging
in someone's home. i love being a part of making someone's house feel
more homey to them, after all, isn't that so much of what art is?

meet "the brit".
she's big, bold, very feminine but with a masculine edge to her,
soft yet sharp, structured yet free...

they recently bought their first house and are in the process
of turning into a gorgeous home. they have completely gutted it,
knocked out walls, opened it up, and filled it with such amazing finishes.

i got to see it a week before they moved in when we were in kc.
i must say, it made me ever so inspired to get the
chance to reno my own place someday.

i cannot wait to see pictures of the rest of their home once they are fully moved in.
it's going to be gorgeous!!!

Without Further Ado...

welp, today is the big day...
i'm ready to share my news....

(no i'm not pregnant)

i have decided to launch a painting business!!!

Original Large Abstract Acrylic Painting Titled Collette

it's named ReverbyHannah on etsy and you can check it out here!

ever since i was a child i've had such a passion for painting, loving the creativity it releases, and the beauty that results from that creativity. as an adult, life had gotten in the way of my passion. since our move to nyc over three years ago, i've been dreaming of starting my own painting company, yet have allowed my fears to stop me from truly pursuing that dream. i've realized its time to stop living in fear, making up excuses, and its time to just do it...yolo, ya know? (that's you only live once, for all you non-rap  music listening peeps out there)
hence the name, rĂªver, which is french for 'dream away'.. this name has special meaning for me.
opening this shop signifies me finally living out one of my lifelong dreams..

as of now i have four paintings up for sale, but will continue adding more as they come and am happy to take commissions as well!

i'm very excited to have this site launched before the holidays so if you are interested in getting someone special in your life a unique, one-of-a-kind gift this year, shoot me an email and we can collaberate to create the perfect gift.

thank you for your support, helping give me the courage to follow a passion and find joy in my journey...

mkae sure to head over to my etsy shop to check out the rest of my work.

colorful art

i would never stop drawing...

I would never stop being artistic.

although my compulsive need to have things put back in their place might drive me to insanity with this, it would be well worth it.

this is a great example of using what you have to create a beautiful work of art, while using it to make a work of art...vicious cycle in the best way possible... ;)

beautiful books

weather like this makes me want to curl up on the sofa with a mug of cocoa and a good book...

these shelves filled with books are so inviting. i love a beautifully arranged bookshelf. it's a wonderful opportunity to not just store your books, but to also show off some of your favorite treasures.

i believe a thoughtfully laid out bookshelf can transform a room, bringing depth, visual texture, and a unique piece of 'art' to the space.

DIY: Unconventional Art

I think is such a great way to turn your favorite pieces of jewelry into decoration for not only your body, but also for your house!

Simply put display in a shadow box filled with pushpins that has a "front door". Then, you still have easy access to your prized pieces when you want to wear them!

Making Art out of your TV

We all have them... the TV that seems to end up taking over the whole living room. Well, if you're gonna have one, you might as well do your best to turn it some art or something, right?

These pictures are great examples of ways to blend that big ol' TV into the rest of your space.

Framing your TV is a great way to make it seem more like a piece of art, rather than a black box!

Here is a great way to help disguise the TV also, by surrounding it with all sorts of pieces of art, creating a more eclectic feel.

Do you have any great ways to take the attention away from the TV and keep it on your fabulously styled apartment?

Cocoa and Hearts

As I've mentioned before, I ADORE Jen over at Madebygirl.blogspot.com. She has been such an inspiration to me in my love of all things design! She recently launched her very own line of fabulous one-of-a-kind paintings that are now on my favie list of artwork!

Here are some of my favorites!

Her new line is called Cocoa and Hearts. Even though so many of her items have already sold, you have to go check out her drool worthy paintings! You'll go gaga for it as fast as I did, I can promise you that!

Photo Gallery Inspiration

Here are some great, unique ways to display photos, making them a beautiful art installation in your home.

I love the white frames here, especially with the French Victorian feel! I'm hoping to find one of these at a flea market this summer when we're in France!

A great way to keep this look a bit more modern, clean, or 'planned' is to use a recurring theme throughout. Either keeping all the photos and /or frames monocramatic (black, or white, or both; silver, or gold, whatever you choose!) And/or by also keeping the display in a more straight line, box style shape, rather than an eclectic, scattered feel.

White frames, large mats, love...

I LOVE lining a staircase full of personal, meaningful photos! What a great way to reminisce on great memories every time you're heading up the stairs!

I love how the larger size of these photos turn your average family snapshots into works of art. I also think printing your photos on stretched canvas is another fabulous way to create a more creative feel.

Even if you don't have the funds for all the frames you can still create a super stylish and personal look by grouping lots of photos together. Having all the photos printed in black and white helps to make this wallet friendly option feel much more expensive and very put together!

What do you think? What's your favorite way to display your most beloved photos?
