Pink Jack

I have always loved the Union Jack symbol. I love this oversized feminine version. I know I will have one of these in my house someday!

And don't even get me started about the bed!!! To D-I-E for!

Nursery Inspiration

Although I'm still no where near being ready to join the Motherhood club (I always have to preface these types of posts with this warning!) The designer in me can't help but think of what I'll do for someday nurseries! I definitely gravitate towards keeping the nursery from looking too "baby-like", i.e. pastels, 'baby' colors, baby signage, etc...
For a boy's room, I love keeping things simple and fairly grown up feeling. I love the yellow and white stripes in this nursery from Jenna Lyon of J. Crew. I adore the strong, dark masculine furniture as well. And I love how the white crib helps to keep the balance in the room.

And how light, fresh, and open is this adorable baby room?! Even though the color palette is much lighter, it still doesn't feel like the typical baby boy room, which I love that about this room! Again, so simple, basic, but very calm and welcoming little nursery. I'm loving the rug, and again the stripes add a great amount of depth and detail to this simple room.

What about you? What is your dream nursery style? And if you have kids, what'd you do for their nurseries?

DIY Headboard Silhouette

How adorable is this DIY Headboard silhouette?!?! I love love love the idea of having this as your child's headboard! What a great way to remember as their growing how precious and tiny they were! And as a chalkboard, it's a great way to leave little notes for your sweet little one every morning. Or even instructions for your sitter on what to do when they wake up if you won't be there to wake them!

It could also make a very elegant bed for a grown up's room as well!

Stencils... for your floors?

Lately I've really been admiring the look of stenciled floors. The possibilities would be virtually endless, being as you can create your own design in whatever color you want!!! It'd be a much more affordable alternative to tiles too, I'd imagine. What are your thoughts? Love it? Hate it?

I definitely think keeping the tones a bit muted is a great way to ease into this look, or you could go all out like the last photo!

What color, pattern, or style would you pick if you did this in a room for your own house?

Mix and Match Done Right

I love the eclectic feel of this dining room. Keeping the color scheme on the chairs monochromatic is the key to making this mix and match vibe work.

DIY: Beautiful Easy Vases

What an adorable way to ring in Spring?! (Are you starting to notice a theme to all my recent posts?!) I'm CRAVING all things Spring!!!

After finding some bottles with great shape and detail, remove the labels, clean the inside and let them dry out completely.

Next, pour a good size dollop of paint into the bottom of the bottle. The color options here are endless. This set is monochromatic, but a few contrasting pieces would be just as lovely.

With the paint in the bottle, you will have to slowly rotate the bottle to get the paint to coat the entire interior of the bottle. This might require two coats. (Acrylic paint will work for this as it will adhere to the glass, but note that you shouldn't fill the bottle with water later.)

Let it dry thoroughly before you add flowers and enjoy!

Modern Inspiration

Last week I went with some friends to dinner in the crossroads district of downtown Kansas City for a birthday celebration. We sort of stumbled upon some ultra modern homes in the middle of all the old character filled homes. That pleasant surprise has reignited my love of modern homes. I love all the straight lines, glass, and metal accents. Here are some inspirational pictures of houses I love right now!

What about you? What is your favorite architecture style for your dream home? Which of these houses is your favorite?
